<![CDATA[Everybody loves to talk about exits and multiples as some sort of brass ring, but those who fall into this way of thinking overlook one key point of success in life: personal freedom. Freedom of time, money relationship and purpose. Freedom to choose what you want to do and who you want to become. Dr. Ed Hood and Dr. Milton Cook are both equal parts financial success and personal humility. They're winning the game of entrepreneurship. Bill Ladd is co-founder of the dental-specific accounting firm, Duckett Ladd, and has experienced their success "up close and personal" over the last few decades. These three guys are each wonderful examples of what so many aspire to create and to become. You're going to enjoy every second of this conversation.

Rachel Wall, Founder of Inspired Hygiene, is someone I've known for over 25 years and I've been fortunate to see her work up close and personal. And now I'm thrilled to have Inspired Hygiene as a business partner going into 2026. This episode is just a taste of what's to come for the members in the Next Level Executive program. Enjoy!

<![CDATA[2025 has been one Hell of a year already - and I'm not even half way through it! At the behest of several members in the program, I decided to launch a "version 3.0" to focus on building and leading a business that is congruent with your family and your very self as a person. I'm calling it "Entrepreneurial Leadership" and it will be a complement to both the Foundations program and the Working Group sessions. Curious? Tune in!

And if it sounds like "the right next step" in your own journey, then join us in July as we kick off Q3! Got questions? I've got answers!

<![CDATA[All of us admire tech companies for the products and services they create that make our lives better, and we marvel at their celebrity CEOs who create a company from nothing. While tech company leaders should be highly regarded for what they've achieved, I don't think there's much to learn or apply from their companies to our own. Healthcare service practices are people-oriented, service-driven businesses that are deeply personal and intimate in nature. They're "execution businesses" at their core, so I figured it might be better to share some timeless wisdom from two thought leaders who were instrumental in shaping my early leadership development, the late Jack Welch (former Chairman & CEO of GE) and the late Peter Drucker (former Dean of the USC Business School). I think you're going to enjoy this!

<![CDATA[So many of you in this audience enter the world of business entrepreneurship through the world of medicine first. While this is completely understandable, I think too many lose sight of the fact that being an entrepreneur is actually a choice we make. Choosing to be an entrepreneur carries with it a tremendous weight in competitive markets, and healthcare services is definitely one. That being said, there are plenty of alternatives - many of which will immediately compromise the freedoms you've mostly forgotten that you have. I hope this episode is a "re-grounding" of sorts and a dose of optimism during your times of trial.

While we all have a variety of assets that make us who we are, there's one that's most important for us in each department. Equally, there's a currency (or a commodity) that can be useful to becoming more effective at what we do. I'll slice and dice both in this episode to give you a few things to consider as your career unfolds. Enjoy!]]>

<![CDATA[I've spoken on several different occasions and on numerous podcasts about my underlying fear that we all run the risk of becoming commoditized if we don't take a more proactive approach to enhancing the patient experience in our practices. The bar is low because your competition is doing absolutely nothing in this area, so even small things can create a big impact. In this episode, I tell the story of my favorite winery sending me a commemorative bottle of wine for the launch of Next Level Executive - a gesture I never expected that brought tears to my eyes. This story is relatable to every single one of us, so give my insights some thought as they relate to your business.

His central point is that the interconnectedness of life only makes sense in the rearview mirror, but it should equally give us confidence as we navigate the uncertainty that lies ahead. This episode is a reading of the Freshly Brewed blog I recently wrote on that very topic. I hope you enjoy it. Ever wonder what it would actually take to put "$10 Million in the bank"? Well...let me break it all down for you!

<![CDATA[Buying a practice brings with it a ton of challenges and most of these businesses have very thin margins. The frequent result is an acquisition that creates negative free cash flow for the buyer. I'll give you some entry-level math to hammer home the concern around cash flow, then I'll share what I've learned from working through numerous acquisitions. This episode is very tactical, so get ready!

I've worked with far too many of you who say that you often feel "isolated" and "alone." To make matters worse, you often feel like you're making it all up as you go along. I'll give you some insights into how to start digging your way out of this hole and share some well-grounded, much-needed optimism for the year to come.
